Monique Lallier Resume

Served as director of the American Academy of Bookbinding for five years. During her tenure the Academy grew tremendously. Currently teaching at AAB in Telluride, and in her studio in Summerfield. Former Chair of the Standards Committee of Excellence of the Guild of Book Workers for from 1988 to 2000 and former president of ARQ (Association des Relieurs du Quebec) 1986-1987.
Born in 1941 in Montreal, Canada.

2009 The Grolier Club Creates. Book arts by club members. Catalogue available at the Grolier Club in New York, page 24. Monique has been a member of the Grolier Club since 2002.

 

The Art of the Book 2008, a traveling exhibition in Canada from September 2008 to January 2011, page 64 in the catalogue.

 

2008 Quebec relie comme jamais…for the celebration of the 400 Anniversary of the foundation of Quebec City. Monique’s binding “Novembre 1775” was selected. Catalogue page 45.

 

Guild of BookWorkers conference and exhibition in New York in 2006. Monique was a presenter at the conference. The topic of her talk was the “History of Bookbinding in Quebec”. Two books were selected for the exhibition. One in the retrospective ( Lignes) and one in the traveling exhibition ( La premiere ecole d’art graphique en Amerique.) Pages 25 and 54 in the catalogue.

The Art of the Book 2003 by the Canadian Bookbinders and Book Artist Guild. Book was “the Enchiridion of Epictetus” and the exhibition traveled all over Canada from September 2003 to June 2005. Page 62 in the catalogue.

September 2002, Guild of BookWorkers Standards of Excellence Seminar in Minneapolis. Monique was a presenter and the topic was Chemise and slipcase.

Bookbinding 2000 is by far the most prestigious conference in the US. Held at the Rochester Institute of Technology in June of 2000. The conference celebrated the installation and opening of the Bernard Middleton collection. Mister Middleton chose the presenters and Monique was one of them. A video of each presentation was produced and it is available true RIT. A catalogue of the proceedings was also published. The presenters were from all over the world. Monique’s presentation was “edge to edge doublure”.
